College is one part of life that we must pass to get a job that we dream of. But what if the job we get is different from the major we take in college? Are our lectures useless?
In work, apart from hard skills, we also need soft skills to support our work. We can get hard skills from lectures or outside, such as the internet, experience, etc. When we go to college, we certainly get a lot of knowledge about all things related to the study program we take, so that it can be applied later in the world of work. Meanwhile, soft skills can be obtained from various positive activities outside of formal education. We can also practice soft skills in our daily lives in interacting with other people.
If your job doesn't align with your college major, don't be discouraged. Because knowledge in college will more or less still be used in our lives. During college we also find and get to know many friends who we can later use as networking in the future to facilitate our work. Lectures also teach us to cooperate and respect others, it is practiced when working in a group. This is usually done to resolve a case from the lecturer and must be discussed by the student. Indirectly it will shape our character later in terms of confidence in expressing opinions, working in a team, and respecting the opinions of others.
In college there are many organizations and committees that you can join. Organizations such as BEM and SENAT related to politics, study groups that have various fields of expertise, or various other organizations or committees that have various advantages and characteristics. By participating in such activities, you will train your hard and soft skills and of course indirectly also add a plus in your CV when applying for a job.
There are still many other positive values that you can apply from college even though it doesn't match your job. Because everything you do now will definitely still have a good impact on us. So don't be discouraged if you choose the wrong major.
